What you’ll learn
Macarons have a reputation for being difficult — but once you understand what to look for at each stage, they become far less mysterious.
Working alongside Manuel and Dane, you'll make macarons from start to finish while learning the techniques that make the difference: building a stable meringue, recognizing proper macaronage, piping uniform shells, baking for the right structure and texture, and filling and assembling your finished macarons.
Along the way, we'll show you how to recognize common problems — from cracked or hollow shells to spreading, sticking and missing feet — and, more importantly, how to understand what caused them.
No previous macaron-making experience is required.
Meet your instructors
Manuel + Dane
FoundersSacré Sucré began with macarons.
Long before opening our pastry shop in Fells Point, Manuel and Dane started Sacré Sucré in 2016, making and selling French macarons at farmers' markets in California. What began with macarons eventually grew into the modern patisserie and café Sacré Sucré is today.
During the Macaron Atelier, you'll work directly with both of us in our upstairs pastry kitchen. With just eight guests divided into two groups of four, the class is intentionally small, hands-on and personal.
We'll share the techniques we've developed through years of making macarons professionally — including the little details, visual cues and troubleshooting that are difficult to learn from a recipe alone.
